Peacebuilding Platform for Apprenticeship: A few ideas about an initiative for mentorship
"To sustain a vocation of accompaniment in settings of deep conflict requires the forging of the whole person not easily attained through skill or intellectual development on their own."

Let me suggest two ways to describe the core idea: To build space for a deeper, more integrated form of apprenticeship in peacebuilding that combines direct practice with solid reflection and character building. With a different lens: To nurture the rise of peacebuilders with sustaining, transformative presence capable of making a constructive difference in violence habituated systems.

I believe this requires something more than an academic degree, something more than skills training, and something more than a short exposure to field sites. It requires a platform for accompaniment and apprenticeship.

My suggestion: Key reflective practitioners involved directly in peacebuilding choose and join with small cohorts of fellows, providing regular and intentional spaces that build and share insights rising from their experience together who link to learnings from other cohorts, and provide a deepening of presence, voice and capacity to respond creatively to complex difficult change processes…
