A figure from the book Preparing for Peace: Conflict Transformation Across Cultures that provides a visual for the transfer model of training in conflict resolution and transformation. Grounded in a shared mainstream culture and language, the trainer as ‘expert’ holds special knowledge and explicit models that are ‘transferred’ to trainees, whose implicit conflict knowledge is not taken into account. Trainees carry and enact the model taught by the trainer directly into their practice.
